A local charity providing shelter, food, and other essentials for local homeless people have received a $1,844 donation thanks to the warm hearts of the staff at Heemer, Klein & Company.
The firm’s staff gathered over $900 during its annual Jean Day Fundraiser during tax season. Heemer-Klein then doubled the contribution to support the Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST).
“There are so many people that would be homeless without MCREST and we’re honored to help them provide essential needs and genuine hope,” said Jennifer Warnken, Heemer-Klein Office Manager. “MCCREST has been supporting people in transition for self-reliance in Macomb County for over 30 years. It’s an amazing organization.”
Firm Principal Michelle Chmelko emphasized the firm’s commitment to being a good community steward.
“When you think about the 1,500 children that became homeless in the county last year, the staff’s decision to help MCCREST was perfect,” Chmelko said. “I’m blessed to have such a wonderful team.”
